The cable is an HDMI to Mini DisplayPort Converter and Scaler, a perfect gadget which allows users connecting HDMI related sources such as PS3, Xbox 360, Apple TV, Cable or Satellite Receivers and Blu-Ray Players to non-Apple displays, e.g., HP, Dell, and others;

The Cable is capable of accepting any incoming resolution up to 1080p through HDMI input and convert/scale the output up to 1920x1200.

Compatibility:

• Dell, HP, Asus, other non-Apple display users - The CABLE is capable of accepting any incoming resolution up to 1080p through HDMI input and scale the output to all resolutions up to 1920x1200. Most non-Apple displays have a native resolution of 1920x1200 or lower, which is will work perfectly.


• 24" Apple LED users (however Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort adapter will be required) - The CABLE is capable of accepting any incoming resolution up to 1080p through HDMI input and scale the output to the native and highest resolution of Apple 24" LED display which is 1920x1200.


• 27" Apple LED users (however Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort adapter will be required) - The CABLE is capable of accepting any incoming resolution up to 1080p through HDMI input and scale the output to 720p on the Mini DisplayPort output. The reason why it is limited to 720p on the 27" display is because 27" display is only capable of 3 resolutions 800x600, 1280x720 or 2560x1440 and since the DP300 can only go up to 1920x1200 (which is below 2560x1440), it will switch to the next resolution down which is 1280x720 (720p). Some previous advertisements from non-Apple sources showed that Apple 27" LED is also 1080p compatible


• 27" iMac users (however Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort adapter will be required) - The CABLE is capable of accepting any incoming resolution up to 1080p through HDMI input and scale the output to 720p on the Mini DisplayPort output. The reason why it is limited to 720p on the 27" iMac is because 27" iMac is only capable of 3 resolutions 800x600, 1280x720 or 2560x1440 and since the DP300 can only go up to 1920x1200 (which is below 2560x1440), it will switch to the next resolution down which is 1280x720 (720p).


• 27" 2011/2012/2013 iMac with Thunderbolt users - The CABLE will not support 2011/2012/2013 27" iMac with Thunderbolt connection.
